Mikey's Science Fiction and Fantasy Schpiel

[Coming Soon]

Eternity Magazine Online
In the grand tradition of Science Fiction and Fantasy "pulp" magazines comes Eternity Magazine, a web site devoted to the entire range of speculative fiction. Eternity's philosophy is to fight the trend toward the increasing balkanization of the speculative fiction genre, and present anything and everything that A] fits even vaguely under the heading of speculative fiction and B] is of a high quality. Eternity publishes fiction, poetry, reviews and commentary, and pays its contributors, just as any print publication would. Check it out!
USS Accord
USS Accord is a Star Trek and Science Fiction fan club serving the Southern Tier of New York. I'm not in New York, any more, but I helped found this group, and I'm rather proud of it. Also, check out the web of the group off from which they spun, USS Avenger
The USS Accord Fiction Writers' Guide
Like many fan clubs, USS USS Accord has its own fan-fiction project. This writers' guide, maintained by me but developed by a group of writers from both USS Accord and other related groups, defines the universe we write our fiction in.
Vidiot's Star Trek and UPN Home Page
Actually, I was hard pressed to decide whether to put this page here, or under "Cool People", because the page's author, Mike "Vidiot" Brown, is definitely a Cool Person. This site is a major source for Trek information, including the Star Trek: The Next Generation Program Guide by Vidiot and Tim "The Enchanter" Lynch (who really needs to get a home page of his own some day).
Doctor Who
[Doctor Who]Occasionally cheesy (particularly in its early days, when it was seen primarily as a children's program), Doctor Who is, or rather, was the longest continually running science fiction program in history. It still holds that record, but is no longer being produced. The BBC, Universal TV and FOX jointly produced a follow-on telefilm that aired in May, 1996 that may yet revive the program... we'll see...
Babylon 5
[Babylon 5]Easily some of the best science fiction ever to hit the small screen, Babylon 5 is in the middle of its fourth season, awaiting notice on renewal for a fifth and final. In contrast to the somewhat haphazard wanderings of the heroes of the various Star Trek series, Babylon 5 is planned out, beginning to end, telling a five-year-long story of love, intrigue, politics, war, and wonder. Watch it!
The Shadow Information Office
[The Shadows]The other side of the Babylon 5 story; dedicated to correcting the impression that the Shadows are evil incarnate-- an impression spread by a ruthless campaign of of misinformation and a way cool television show.
Unfortunately, this site has not been updated recently. I imagine this is in large part because it's a British site, and the poor Brits tend not to see episodes until after we do here in the States. Remember, the Shadows Love You.
Blake's 7
[Blake's 7]Ok, so Blake's 7 was occasionally a bit cheesy. It was still a cool television program, with some amazing one-liners... By the way, I'm taking a sort of informal poll. Those of you who have both followed Mark Anbinder's link above, or know Mark, and have also seen Blake's 7--don't you think Mark looks more than a little like a younger Gareth Thomas (Blake)?
Red Dwarf
[Red Dwarf]And speaking of cheesy, Red Dwarf was the ultimate Science Fiction spoof. The first season was the least well produced, but easily the funniest. Worth a look-see...The site I had been using for this link has gone, and there are zillions now to choose from; rather than choose, this is merely a link to the Yahoo page.
